Summary of Donations to The Gurkha Welfare Trust
Today, Nepal remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with limited industry, agriculture and infrastructure. It suffers from a complex terrain and climate, with frequent natural disasters. It also lacks effective public services or social welfare systems. This means that the work of the Trust is critical in improving conditions for ex-servicemen and their dependents, who are often unable to work through age, illness or injury. The Welfare Pension is often all that stands between an ex-Gurkha and destitution.
